Please help HELP (Helambu Education and Livelihood Project).
Hello everyone! When I arrived in Nepal in September I was introduced to a local Nepalese man who is the founder of HELP, and I had the privilege to hear about the kind of work this organization does. Helambu Education and Livelihood Project is a registered non-profit organization that was founded in 2009 and based in Nepal. HELP is dedicated to improving the education in government schools in Helambu, which is a region of highland villages, where government provision is scarce. Since its foundation, HELP has worked with over twenty-five partner schools and communities, enabling local communities to engage with education and take charge of their schools. The provision of support that HELP provides includes (but is not limited to): building and repairing new classrooms, toilet and drinking water facilities, recruiting, training teachers, and providing scholarships for higher education.
The supplies at the school are extremely limited, with children and teachers only having their basic text books to conduct a lesson. There are no art supplies, toys, or sporting equipment, making it incredibly difficult to make learning both effective and fun. I am collecting donations to help the school buy much needed supplies and help fund the hostel that is being built for the children who are required to live away from their family and village to attend school. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and are going to the cutest kids I have ever seen!
