Olivia's Grim Challenge!
Fundraising for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
Fundraising for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
Hey Everyone,
I have been thinking for a while now about doing something for charity, however I wasn't quite sure what. After a friend mentioned the Grim Challenge , I immediately dismissed the idea. But then, I realised if I wanted to do something for charity, it needed to be something that would push me physically.
The Grim Challenge is an eight mile cross country run across an army vehicle testing track. It takes place in December and involves mud, dirt and ditches! Those closest to me know that a typical weekend involves shopping, sipping flat whites and tottering around in my heels and won't involve mud, the cold or anything outdoors! This event is so out of my comfort zone, which is exactly why I am determined to see it through.
I have decided to raise money for The Royal Marsden Hospital. My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer on New Years Eve 2009. I can't articulate the wave of emotions I felt during the next few weeks after her diagnosis. All I know is that the medical staff at the hospital in Fulham, where she had her operation, and the hospital in Sutton, where she had her treatment, did a fantastic job. The hospital specialises in the research and treatment of cancer. I am doing this run as a thank you to the people who helped my mum during this time.
I would appreciate it if you could spare a few pennies for this charity, so they can continue to help people, like my mum.
Thanks,
Olivia :-)
