Olivia's Tanzania Expedition with Raleigh International

Raleigh International Trust · 12 September 2013
WE DID IT! My Dad and I walked 35 miles across the Mendips in just 13 hours! It was tough - the lashing rain, the strong winds, the darkness, the slurry, the blisters and the fierce bulls - but (with the help of several packets of Jelly babies!) we got to Wells Cathedral.
A massive thank you to everyone for their support and generous donations. It's still not to late too donate!
I will be working on a project with local communities to install infrastructures that we all take for granted, such as basic sanitation. Only 54% of the population have access to improved water supplies and only 24% have access to adequate sanitation. Woman and children can spend up to seven hours a day collecting water.
Me and the other Raleigh venturers intend to change this!!!
We will also be working on an enviromental project protecting the country's natural habitats and wildlife. Communities that live in close proximity to elephant migration coridoors face frequent damage to their crops and water supplies. To prevent this human and animal conflict we will be building fences using natural deterrents, such as...
...chillis and beehives! Both of which effectively prevent elephants from trampling on hard earned farmers' crops.
I have always wanted to get out of my comfort zone and do something great for those less fortunate than myself - and for those of you who know me will appreciate, 10 weeks without limitless supplies of nutella and pasta will prove a tough enough challenge in itself!
The money you donate does not go towards my flights or any fancy equipment etc. Every penny will be put towards improving the lives of families in Tanzania.

Thank you so much for your support!
