Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Next week I am walking the 3 peaks in 24 hours (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon). The vital stats are 26 miles along and, more alarmingly, 3,000m up. I've been doing some training but I'm not sure anything can prepare me for the relentless up combined with sleep deprivation. The knowledge that there is a cafe with 'refreshments' at the top of Snowdon will help, but I've already checked and we are not allowed to get the train back down.
I've decided to take the opportunity to fundraise for Streets of Growth, a grassroots charity in East London which helps disadvantaged young people escape / avoid poverty, gang culture and drug dependency, thereby making our streets a safer place. I did quite a bit of research and this seems a worthy cause which I am sure finds it much more difficult to attract funding than the big charities.
For any cynics out there, your donations will not go towards funding my trip in any way. Nor is my being able to participate in the challenge in any way dependent on having to raise funds. I do, however, have to pretend to be a firefighter...!
