A SWINDON Town fan has been included in the betting odds to be named the next Robins boss with one bookie after submitting his CV to the club, highlighting the experience he has gained on a football management computer game.
The likes of Glenn Hoddle and Paolo Di Canio have been strongly backed by some punters in recent days, but someone listed among those illustrious names is Ollie Howitt.
Town interim chairman Jeremy Wray stated that he would be inviting applications for the Town job following the departure of Paul Hart, and Howitt took him up on the offer by sending in his CV, boasting back-to-back promotions achieved with Swindon Town on Football Manager.
Now odds are being offered of 200/1 by one bookie that Howitt will be picked to lead the club to promotion from League Two next season.
“I was disappointed with this season, after seeing Danny Wilson and Paul Hart massively fail, I decided I would apply as I feel I could have done a better job,” said the 23-year-old Cirencester resident.
“I was on Football Manager and gained two successive promotions with Swindon, and even had David Prutton and Jonathan Douglas in the same team that actually played well - getting promoted to the Premier League and getting to a League Cup final. Just like the old Swindon days.
“I have a coaching award, while I studied at Cirencester Deer Park school, which I feel would go to good use.
“Regarding Victor Chandler, I informed them of my intentions and my application, and they agreed to enter me in the market at 200/1. I’m going to have a few quid on it myself and see if I am in contention.”
“Any money placed on me will go to a charity of my choice, and I have therefore chosen to donate to Hop, Skip and Jump.”
Betting on me sometimes gets suspended due to updating odds etc, so this is a more convienient way to donate.. :)
