Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

UPDATE:  Thank you to all of you have already sponsored me. You'll be happy to know that I completed the marathon in just over 5hrs 10 mins, this was a little slower than I wanted however the heat really took it's toll and slowed me down a bit.  Maybe I'll do it again but this time with 'time' as the goal!?

Absolutely amazing day though and without sounding too cliched - I couldn't have done it without your support!  Thank you so much again, you've all been amazingly generous.

If you've not yet sponsored me and you'd like to, then it's never too late!  Please donate as usual...

As you're aware I am running the 2011 Virgin London Marathon and would love your cash to help support my chosen charity, Debra.

If the truth be told I've never been much of a runner, in fact I'm a little lazy when it comes running - just ask anyone who's ever played football with me!  So the 26.2 miles ahead of me on Sunday 17th April 2011 seems like an impossible task - however training has started and is gathering momentum and at the time of typing my knees are holding up!

Debra is a charity which is very close to mine and my families hearts and I will be running in memory of my little brother Thomas.  Thomas passed away when he was just two and half and suffered from Junctional Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), this is a very rare genetic condition in which the skin and internal body linings blister at the slightest knock or rub, causing painful, open wounds.

EB is likely to affect 1 in 17,000 live births and it is estimated that there are currently 5,000 people with the condition in the UK. Because EB is an inherited condition, which is passed on genetically from parents to children, first time parents often do not know that they are carriers and will have no prior warning that the child will be affected, until birth.

For more information on Junctional EB - http://www.debra.org.uk/findlay-s-story.html

Please dig deep and help give me the motivation needed to keep training.
