We fund vital research into neuroblastoma to find new and better treatments

Story

15 years ago this month (March) my cousin Greg died.  He was only 5 years old but he had Neuroblastoma and at that time, the chances of
recovering from it were very small.  I am only 10 so I never got to meet him.  I've been swimming since I was just 3 months old so when my swim coach suggested I try to swim a mile to raise funds for charity during International Learn to Swim Week, I decided I would like to raise money for Neuroblastoma UK in memory of him.  I'd really like to make Greg's mum, my Auntie Donna, proud!

Taking place with Swim Safe School at 4.30pm on Friday 17th May at Cranleigh Golf and Leisure Club.

Neuroblastoma affects around 100 children each year in the UK.  It usually affects children under the age of five, and can occur

before a child is born. It is most common for a neuroblastoma to present as Stage 3 or 4.  Survival of UK children with neuroblastoma has
improved over the past 25 years, through effective clinical trials identifying better forms of treatment. Now two thirds of children can expect to survive 3 years after diagnosis, compared with one in five 20 years ago although, sadly, some of these children will subsequently relapse.

The charity’s sole purpose is the relief of children suffering from neuroblastoma, and to achieve this it raises funds for medical research into improving both diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
