Story

We are raising funds in Oli's memory for the Royal Free Charity's Quiet Cancer Appeal Fund 311 for NETs (neuroendocrine tumours).

Oli died of high grade metastatic neuroendocrine carcinoma five months after diagnosis. He underwent palliative chemotherapy, which enabled us to celebrate our first anniversary, however the cancer was found too late. It is an asymptomatic, 'quiet', cancer, which had already spread when he had his first inkling - he thought he might have flu. (He'd been doing some serious biking in Wales with friends two days previously.) His attitude throughout his illness was incredible, he truly lived life to the full.

Although he wasn't treated at the Royal Free, he wanted money raised to be put towards research. Fighting the cause of the fire.

"The Royal Free Unit has an active research programme dedicated to furthering the understanding of what causes neuroendocrine cancer, how it grows, how it can be detected earlier and also for the development of new therapies." Money raised through this page will be directed towards high-grade research - which is a very different disease to the low-grade variety.

It's too late for Oli, but we are where we are, so let's ensure some good comes of it. Thank you.
