Story
Makomborero was set up but 2 friends of ours Mark and Laura Albertyn. They have always had an incredible passion to help the children of Zimbabwe through education. Rich and I had the honour of visiting them in 2010 as Makomborero was being established. Seeing the challenges that lay before them, what they have achieved and the children that have been blessed by this charity is amazing.
Makomborero works to relieve poverty in Zimbabwe through the education of children. They achieve this by investing time in disadvantaged communities & by supporting talented students to allow them to complete their education and attain excellent grades in their A-levels. Makomborero gives these children the chance to fulfil their undeniable potential and gives them hope and a future. Makomborero means “blessings” in the Zimbabwean language, Shona. Their logo represents people reaching to the sky for blessings with the tree based on a baobab tree.
All the money I raise through running this half marathon will go to supporting the work of Makomborero so thank you for your generosity!
