Story
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money in memory of my fantastic Mum (Sue to her friends) who died of a brain tumour four years after her first diagnosis.
Brain tumours grow rapidly and spread silently within the brain meaning that by time of diagnosis, many people only have weeks or months to live. I feel exceptionally lucky that Mum was one of ~2% of people diagnosed with a high-grade brain tumour to survive as long as she did. Unfortunately, the devastating reality is that more than 75% of people that receive the same diagnosis will die within one year.
Brain tumours have an terrible predilection for young and middle aged people. As a result, brain tumours kill more people under 40 than any other cancer. Despite this, only 1% of the national spending on cancer research is dedicated to brain tumours. Charity fundraising like this is spent on establishing treatment options that might prolong survival or ultimately provide a cure.
From the bottom of my heart I wish that no families have to experience the same hopelessness of a brain tumour diagnosis that we did with Mum. It is only through research funding that this reality is possible so I hope that you can give what you can so that people like Mum are given a fighting chance in combating this truly awful disease.
Thank you in advance for anything you can give.
