HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL AND A SAFE AND PROSPEROUS 2016
Each year rather than sending out a company Christmas card we donate the money we would have spent on supporting a specific charity. This year, in memory of an exceptional young man, we have chosen to donate to the charity BLESMA, The Limbless Veterans charity.
Tragically, on 23 December 2013, a family friend of Richard and Mary, lost their son, Captain Richard Holloway, while on an operation in Afghanistan. Richard was a great guy, much loved and highly respected for his outstanding ability, humility, wicked sense of humour and passion for life, particularly outdoor pursuits such as mountain biking, kayaking, surfing and climbing. He touched the lives of those he met more than he ever knew.
One of Richard's close friends was Dave Henson MBE, who was seriously injured as a result of an IED explosion during a tour of Afghanistan, a couple of years before Richard died. Dave has had continual prosthetic advice and support from BLESMA charity which has helped him achieve success at the Invictus games in 2014, where he was captain of the British team and won the 200m sprint. Dave has gone on to complete a Masters in Biomedical Engineering in 2014 and has since started a PhD in Prosthetics Research while also training towards a potential place in the Rio 2016 Paralympics.
We know Richard would be proud of the work charities like BLESMA have done to help injured servicemen back into sports and the outdoors and we hope that you will join NAA in donating and help injured servicemen and families, to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
