Story
In November, I will be running in my first marathon in Istanbul, partly because the feeling of finishing will be incredible, and perhaps also to encourage myself to drink a little less, but also to raise money for Winter Comfort, a Cambridge-based charity set up to provide the support network homeless men and women so badly need.
Having grown up in Cambridge, I have always been aware of the visible number of
homeless people living in the town, a number which has sadly risen
significantly in the last few years. Despite often talking to homeless in
Cambridge and London,
I too often forget how damn lucky I am to have a home to retreat
to when it starts raining, to have food in my fridge when I get there (most of the time), enough
money to go to the pub, or fly to Istanbul, and family and friends to have fun with, and who can offer support when things are going wrong. These are all comforts and people that homeless men and women
can't count on, often as a result of circumstances beyond their control.
Please give generously to support Winter Comfort's amazing efforts in getting homeless peoples' lives back on track!
