Story
This year Fairplay celebrates their 30th anniversary. I feel very honoured to be able to say that I am part of the Fairplay team working as the HR Officer. I witness on a daily basis the outstanding work that goes on. I know the staff team well and having worked within the health and care sector for some years I can hand on heart say that the care given by our staff is exceptional.
Fairplay supports children and young people with disabilities and
additional needs, and their families, across North Derbyshire.
We offer a wide range of services to meet the needs of families. We offer support to children and young people, aged 0-30, and to parents and siblings. We run play schemes and Saturday clubs for children, youth clubs, activity days, themed groups, and independent living groups for young people, and parent support groups and family trips for parents and siblings.
At Fairplay we provide a home based care service for children with complex health care needs that may be life-threatening or life-limiting. We provide a child-centred flexible service that meets the needs of the child and their family.
Fairplay gives families the support that they need, and gives opportunities to take part in positive experiences that make a real difference to their lives. We enable parents to have valuable respite including 24 hour care and we give children and young people the opportunity to develop a wide range of life skills.
Fairplay would not be open if we did not continue to receive donations so I just could not decline the offer to participate in this sponsored walk.
The 30K in a day sponsored walk will take place on Friday 19th August around beautiful Buttermere in the Lake District. Although we will be fortunate enough to take in some stunning scenery, this gruelling 18.5 miles walk will include hiking up and reaching the summit of 7 mountains!! We will be tackling: Red Pike, White Pike, Pillar, Hay Stacks, Seat, High Crag and High Stile - we'll reach 892m elevation at our highest point......... it's not going to be easy work but considering the difficulties some of the families that we support face, it seems like a walk in the park.
Please help us raise our target of £500 by sponsoring us for this event - even if you sponsor us £1, every penny really does count.
