I am an Artist/Illustrator who is art school trained and I am raising funds for ReSurge Africa by donating through funds from my artwork sales.
I first worked at a magazine publishers on various Illustrative projects. My main area of interest is Illustration, but I also enjoy the fine arts and painting in oils. I left the magazine publishers due to family commitments but was still involved in various art projects including pet portraits. I started to get a lot of commission requests so I decided to setup my website avasattic.net.
Unfortunately, soon after in 2017, I was diagnosed with Melanoma and over the next few years, had 3 major surgeries. It was whilst recovering from the surgeries, I started focusing more on my art career again and had the idea of connecting with a charity to help raise funds through my artwork. This is when I came across ReSurge Africa
This charity seemed very apt for me and I was lucky to receive such amazing treatment and care during and after surgery by some of the most selfless professional medical teams with such advanced medical knowledge.
My incentive for helping the disadvantaged and wanting to give back through my artwork will always stem from my experiences with healthcare etc. I am very grateful for all the wonderful, innovative work and services available and vital this knowledge is shared with others.
Resurge will always be my inspiration for giving back through my artwork.
"ReSurge Africa's main aim is to help bridge these gaps in healthcare by providing surgical training in hospitals, to surgeons and other vital supporting medical staff, such as anaesthetists, physiotherapists, and nurses. Eventually, this will lead to the hospitals of West Africa, being self-sufficient and not needing much overseas help, other than ongoing support and further training."
It is vitally important we keep this work going and share our knowledge with others less fortunate.
