Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am choosing to cycle 100km for LOROS because of the brilliant work they do with terminally ill patients and their families.
I experienced this first hand when my Dad passed away in 2009 and my Grandma in 2010. My Dad suffered from Leukaemia for just 9 months. When he was told he had 2 weeks left it came as a complete shock as he had been recovering. He wanted to go home, which he did but within 2 days we were having to call an ambulance because he had gotten so poorly. When he realised it wasn't going to be possible for him to get the care he needed at home, he chose to go to LOROS. They were fantastic. Patients can come and go as they please, there are no visiting hours and mum and I were allowed to stay all night in a relatives bedroom the night before he died.
He passed away 2 weeks and 6 days after been told he would not survive. After he passed away, LOROS offered us counselling support, sorted the paperwork for registering his death and sent us away with a bundle of information about what to do next.
The Nightrider event starts at 11pm on 8th June 2013 and the route takes you 60 miles around London.
This is a real challenge for me and I really want to raise as much as possible for this very worthy cause so please donate anything you can.
