Story

Thanks for taking the time to drop by.

Well I'm running another marathon - 26.2miles of effort, made extra difficult since it is not on nice flat roads, but instead in the upsy downsy countryside that is Richmond Park. I might even get charged by a herd of deer!

Well well well. And thats exaclty the point in fact. The water that is not the deer. I've been training as best I can, but I'd love you to support my efforts in donating towards a well or bore-hole, which is being dug in the grounds of the Nairobi School we raised money for a few years back in climbing Kilimanjaro.

Enough has been raised so far to cover the drilling of the borehole 500ft into the ground (around £17,000) but the equipment to pump it out and make it usable, still needs to be paid for. That costs about £8000 and so I want to see if we can help in that quest.

Until now the school has had on average about 1 day of water a week supplied through the taps, and been forced to buy water from other sources for drinking, cooking, washing, cleaning etc. Imagine running a house on that little and unreliable volume of water! Let alone a school of 700 or so children. Early indications are very good about the amount of water available, and the drilling is going well.

That's where we can help, so please join me in donating to help the Church Army Africa Academy School in Nairobi pay for the equipment to extract the much needed water from the bore-hole well which was started to be dug at the beginning of May.

And if you are feeling up for providing extra incentive (ie making me suffer even more!!) , read on...

As if finishing the race is not enough in itself (and it may well be!), I am attempting to make the distance in the ridiculous time of 3 hours 20 mins or less. This is nothing short of crazy for a hilly country course with no precedent, and when you have no idea of the conditions, so who knows what will happen. However, if you'd like to challenge me in this additional quest, perhaps you could offer to double the donation if I succeed? Or provide an additional amount of your choice? Just a thought...

Thank you anyway for your support and do come and give me a wave and a shout if you can (9.30am start - 3.5 times around the park so good for spectators)
