Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money for the Great North Air Ambulance Service, for them to keep doing the amazing work they do on a daily basis.
On April 26th 2015, my best friend - Gemma Frances Kay and her boyfriend were involved in a road traffic accident when both were knocked off a motorbike. The GNAAS team responded to the call and assessed Gemma's injuries before airlifting her to the RVI in Newcastle.
Gemma was rushed straight into surgery, however her injuries were too extensive and her family made the heart-breaking decision to switch off her life support the next day.
Not only am I raising money in order for the team at the GNAAS service to keep up their amazing work, I am also going to be promoting awareness of the "Think Bike" campaign. In order to do this, I will be running in the most ridiculous costume I can put together (thinking along the lines of a cardboard bike and a giant stop bike sign above my head).
This is my second Great North Run, and I hope to make Gemma proud, whilst also making drivers stop and look before driving from a junction.
Gemma was just about to graduate from her PCGE course and had a job lined up to become a Maths teacher at a school in South Shields. She was 23 years old and had her whole life ahead of her. Her family and friends were and still are devastated that she is no longer in our lives. Gemma was an amazing, vibrant, self-less and genuine person, who accomplished such amazing things in her short life. In 2011 she climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, and in 2012 she completed the Great North Run.
Please help me make Gemma proud, and raise as much money as possible to help the GNAAS respond to calls and help do their best to save lives.
