As many of you know, I HATE running. However, I’m always up for a challenge and Bath Half Marathon will certainly be that for me. I’m running in aid of a charity which is very close to my heart – Cuddles – the charity supporting the Special Care Baby Unit at Glan Clwyd Hospital. Being 9 weeks premature and spending 3 weeks in an incubator, I can say that I, along with my parents, definitely benefitted from their support. My brother, Jamie, was also 6 weeks premature but was a little fatty so didn’t quite require so much attention! Both our stories have happy endings, but sadly many babies are not so fortunate and need much more care and attention. Many of you are parents and will know what an anxious time this can be and without support from people like you, SCBU’s across the country face financial difficulties and even closures – something which this unit in particular has recently faced. Babies are our future and we need to give them the best chance and start in life.
