As part of #TeamACS, I am walking to raise vital funds for all children, young people and adults affected by cancer in Ayrshire. This includes staff, volunteers, ambassadors and board members who want to take on this challenge to highlight and raise much needed funds for the essential and extremely important work we carry out in the community. Our free services range from transport to hospital appointments, adult counselling, support groups, complementary therapies to relieve the symptoms of cancer treatment, cancer nurse appointments, specialist children and young people services helping those affected by a cancer diagnosis aged 5 years and upwards (not just theirs but also a loved one who has been diagnosed), information library and a welcoming and relaxed drop-in centre for those who want to chat over a cuppa or just have a little quiet time with their own thoughts.
The work we carry out in the community is essential as more people than ever are living with cancer and they need our help and support.
