Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Earlier this year, Mike and I were participating in the Malta Half marathon with a group of friends we'd met through Michelle's Running Group in Braintree. I'd started running in January last year and Mike joined in May. We soon discovered a joint love of running, sometime more love-hate than love but it was something we did together. We were both so excited to be there in Malta and we smiled and laughed the whole way round. We'd had a lovely weekend together and we spoke of all the other races we'd entered for this year.
100m before the finish line Mike collapsed and was pronounced dead shortly after, suffering a heart attack. He was fit, and had even gone through a health check only recently where all signs were good. His cholesterol was normal, as was his blood pressure. He ate well and didn't smoke. He did everything he should, which makes it even more cruel to lose him at the age of 55.
He was my husband of 20 years, and a dad to our two devastated children. He was also a grandad and it breaks my heart that my children and grandson won't share their lives with this wonderful man.
I've continued to run in his memory. I want to do this for him, raising money to hopefully prevent just one person going through this horrendous loss.
I've had such support so far, now I can give something back.
Thank you xx
