Story
I am taking part in a half iron man in Guernsey on Sunday 6th September 2009 in memory of a very special friend of mine, Ali Rainback.
Ali was a talented and inspirational ski instructor who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in November 2007 and sadly passed away on 22 June 2008.
He was fortunate to spend his last 7 weeks in a wonderful, safe and caring environment at The Hospice of St Francis where he received the specialist palliative care that only they can provide.During the time of his care Ali's wish was to raise £100,000 to fund a bed for one year to help others, and I would like to do something to help him achieve his final wish.
If you were fortunate to have known Ali, or just think I have totally lost the plot by taking part in this challenge then please give generously!
I know I do lots of things to raise money for various charities and I feel I am often asking you to dig deep, with this in mind I am grateful for any donation from £2 to £200. The half iron man is personally going to be a huge challenge for me, involving a 1.9km sea swim, followed by a 90km bike ride followed by a half marathon! I have been training hard and any donations will spur me on, particularly whilst I try to avoid drowning in the sea.
Thank you for any donations and helping me to help Ali acheive his final wish, he truely was a star.
