Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I've signed up to do a 26 mile walk in July, not because I love hiking (that's what cars are for) or because I want to show off my super fitness (I'll be the one at the back) but because I want to support those that are fighting and living with cancer right now. Cancer is a cruel, indiscriminate disease; it can affect anyone at any time and those who are suffering need all the support that charities like Macmillan can provide.
I'm fundraising and walking in memory of my dear friend Vicky Dowding. We met when we had our first babies at the same time and we spent the next few years sharing milestones - from sleepless nights and potty training to birthday parties and starting school. We also supported each other through some difficult times. Just a few months after my third child was tragically stillborn, my funny, feisty, fabulous friend Vicky was given the devastating terminal diagnosis of secondary breast cancer. Over the next 21 months, Vicky underwent gruelling, back-to-back treatments, living with disability and excruciating pain. Finally in the summer of 2016, Vicky's treatment options were exhausted and in July she lost her life at the age of only 38, leaving behind her 2 small children.
Please help me fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support to help people like Vicky, living with cancer. We all have friends and family fighting cancer, so let's do what we can to get them the help and support they need.
