Story
We all know someone who has been affected by this disease, not only do I have close family and friends that have been, but I now consider myself a bit of a seasoned campaigner having had breast cancer twice in the last six years, and everything that goes with that. I finished my second round of treatments in March 2016 - yes its pretty rubbish, but I'm not complaining as the fact of the matter is that not everyone is as lucky.
So, in September 2017 I turn 40 and wanted to do something to celebrate, and this caught my eye in my Grandma's magazine! Of course this is for me, a personal challenge and lets be honest I am a bit partial to the odd bit of travel (and haven't been to Brazil before) - but also it gives me the chance to hopefully raise lots of money for these great charities.
I am going to cover the cost for flights and accommodation myself, so rest assured all donations are going directly to the charities & not towards funding an exotic holiday for me!
My amazing & very supportive friends Helen & Sally have agreed to sign up with me, so together we are going to battle through the saddle sores & chafing thighs to complete the 350km (220 miles) in 5 days. It is very exciting & my first thoughts are that it doesn't sound too bad (the money raising side is more scary), but then thinking about the heat and humidity, and I am assuming that Brazil isn't as flat as East Yorkshire, that's when I realise this is actually going to be pretty tough. But never one for doing things by halves, I'm sure it'll all be fine!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Any donation large or small is very much appreciated.
Thanks
