Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Most of you will be aware by now that I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2009, this came as a massive shock to me and my close family and friends. The months since then have flown by and a positive, mental attitude has helped us all get through it. I had my operation in July and it turned out that the cancer was a grade 3 therefore they offered me chemotherapy, followed by radiotherapy. I just had to go ahead with the treatment. I value my life too much and love those special people dearly who are close to me. I am not ready to go anywhere just yet!!! Six sessions of chemotherapy over an 18 week period began in August 09. I remained strong and got through it. Radiotherapy then began in January, that was tough and very tiring. I have now started my next lot of treatment Herceptin and that is an injection similar to the chemo every 3 weeks over the next 12 months.
Back in December we held a charity night at The Digby Hotel, Water Orton. We had a fantastic night and many of the local businesses and friends donated raffle prizes. We raised £1171.70.
Dave & I have decided to continue fund raising and approximately 55 family members and friends are walking up Snowdon on Saturday 19th June 2010 and a few others are coming along to support us. We are making a weekend of it and camping not far from Snowdon. Everyone has been training for this and are now really excited about the whole weekend. We are taking the Llanberis track which is the longest route at 5 miles but a steady incline. Snowdon is at the heart of the Snowdonia National park and is the highest mountain in England and Wales standing at 3650ft or 1085m.
Most of us know special people who are having to deal with this awful disease or have battled through it and of course those that did not survive their ordeal. If you would like to support this worthwhile cause and sponsor me & Dave to climb the highest mountain in Wales then that would be fantastic.
We would also like to say a BIG thankyou to all my family and friends who have been there for me throughout this last year. It's been tough but you have all kept me smiling.
Thanks
Nicky & Dave xx
Tuesday 22nd June 2010 - We did it!!!!
A huge well done to all 61 family & friends and not forgetting the 4 dogs that climbed Snowdon on Saturday. Early indications show that as a group we have raised in the region of £8.5k. Fantastic news.
Everyone did so well and agrees that it was probably one of the hardest things they have ever done. The weekend was superb.
Thanks everyone. What shall we do next???
