Story
This year Peartree Languages is raising money for the Welsh Refugee Council. So far we have raised £93 in our raffle and we would love to reach £200 in total. Not a lofty target, will you help us make it?
This charity is an obvious choice for an international school and your donation will help the Welsh Refugee Council to provide language classes, general pastoral care and support to many people who have suffered unimaginably awful situations. Many are here alone, having left all their family behind, not knowing if they are alive or dead. Homes, possessions, jobs, lives all lost before they even began making the dangerous, risky journey to escape and arrive in a safe place. You know the people on the TV, the children in the boats drowning in the sea every day on the news? Well, those are the people your donation might make a small difference to.
We personally know many wonderful people who work extremely hard at the Welsh Refugee Council, with very limited resources and funding. We know exactly whose hands your donation will fall into. In a year when so much hate has been spread, we would like to light a little beacon of hope that the world can be a kind place where those in need are cared for, even if they are strangers, and people try their best to come together, not be ripped apart by politics, ignorance and fear.
So, if you have watched the news recently and felt frustrated that you cannot help those thousands of people fleeing terror just remember that some of them do make it and they are here, in Wales, they need support, integration and most importantly a chance to make a new life for themselves and a positive contribution in the UK.
Thank you for reading and for your generous donation.
