Story
My Grandfather, Tony (or PaPa to me) was a RAF pilot in World War II and was stationed in Britain, North Africa, Italy, South Africa and Sri Lanka as a Beaufighter pilot and, later, an instructor on Catalinas. He died last year (aged 91). However, I would like to celebrate his life and all the support he gave to me by doing something to support a cause that was close to his heart.
2015 marks the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and to commemorate this and my PaPa I’ll be partaking in RAFBF Brompton Bicycle Challenge from Paris to London to support the RAF Benevolent fund.
Whilst 211 miles on a Brompton in 4 days represents a challenge it doesn’t come close to the challenges faced by those men and women of the RAF who go to work each day, often risking their lives, to protect the UK and her interests and to keep each one of us safe. Every penny I am raising will go to ensuring that anyone who has served their country has someone to help them in their hour of need.
And to thank you for your support all donors will be invited to a celebratory BBQ /afternoon tea at mine in London on Sunday 20 September.
Thanking you in advance!
Nicky
