Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Three years ago, at the age of 63, my Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Until then I had been fairly ignorant about dementia and the effect it has on both sufferers and their families. Having experienced it first hand, I am now aware what a cruel illness it is and so decided I wanted to try and raise money into research for a cure.
I have lived in Barns Green for three years and so decided that I no excuse for not entering the half marathon! I am not a natural runner so this is going to be quite a challenge to me. I am sure I will be near the back of the field on the day, but my aim is to complete the half marathon and hopefully raise lots of money for the Alzheimer's Research Trust.
The work of Alzheimer's Research Trust is aimed at helping everyone affected by Alzheimer's and eliminating the risk to us all in the future. There are 700,000 people in the UK with dementia and this figure is predicted to double within a generation. The charity funds research on a large scale to find a way of preventing or effectively treating Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
If you feel you could sponsor me, I would be extremely grateful.
