After my niece was stable enough to be moved from paediatric intensive care, she spent a few days on Ocean Ward before she was ready to be moved back to her local hospital. Here, she was monitored continuously as she continued to recover. The nurses here provided support and teaching for my brother and sister-in-law as they got to grips withdrawing up and giving the many medications my niece needed to go home with, preparing them for the day they could take her home. 

Ocean Ward at Southampton hospital provide care for children with a variety of congenital cardiac conditions, some that may need numerous operations. They see and treat patients from ll over the UK. Families of Ocean Ward aim to provide financial and emotional support to families of children who may stay on the ward for long periods of time. They buy toys and games for the ward for the enjoyment of patients, and organise fun days out for the patients and families. The charity also contribute to the purchasing of equipment that families may need to allow them to care for their child at home.
