Fundraising for Havens Hospices
“Move more, eat less” he replied when I complained that everything I owned was skin tight.
We both know it’s the truth, but signing me up for a marathon was a little extreme. Finding out we have 2 charity places on the 22nd December after consuming 3 bottles of valpolicella seems wildly over the top, especially when the wine was below average.
However, there comes a time when rather than sponsoring someone to do the work, I should actually contribute more than just financially and put a real shift in.
Therefore, my tormentor (David Helps) and myself will be running the London Marathon on Sunday 23rd April 2023 in support of Havens Hospices (the link to them is above, they do fabulous work supporting persons not as fortunate as ourselves). It will be David’s 8th London Marathon and guaranteed to be his most arduous as I’m built more for burgers, beer and wine than New Balance and Garmin Forerunner watches.
We are aiming for a completion in 4:30hrs, this should safely beat anyone running as a camel and give my toil some credence.
I would appreciate if you could find the time to sponsor David and myself - Havens Hospices provide palliative nursing and supportive care to adults and children living with complex or incurable conditions - I think our 26.2 miles is pretty insignificant compared to the work and support this brilliant team provides.
As always, David and I would like to give a special shout out to Liberty Angel Starkey, always in our hearts.
And since writing this, our good friend Lee Wilton sadly lost his fight with cancer at far too young an age. In his last days he was cared for by Havens.
Memories of Libs and Lee will be there to inspire us every step of this journey.
Thank you
Nick & David
