Story

I can't quite believe it but on 23 May, Nick and I are embarking on the 100km London2Brighton Challenge. Nick plans to run it (yes I know!) with his best friend in under 14 hours and I am planning to do it at a slightly more sedate speed and just hope I can stay within 24 hours and keep my best friend!

We are raising money for PUNK. A good friend, Brian, has had Parkinson's for a number of years and asked us to join him and a group of other friends to raise money specifically to fund the training of specialised nurses to provide support and care for people living with Parkinson's.   Parkinson's nurses are critical to improving the lives of everyone affected by this disease. But this vital service is not available everywhere. PUNK is raising funds to provide specialist nursing in areas of the UK where none is currently available.

The London2Brighton Challenge is of the UK's great endurance events.  Most of the 3,000 participants will walk it, some will jog parts, and nearly 500 (my mad husband included) will run it as a full-on 100km ultra-marathon.  The Ultra Challenge is a unique test of stamina and determination - just what I need for a relaxing bank holiday weekend.....  Starting in Richmond and crossing the North and South Downs to the Brighton Coast, 60% of the course is off road through fields, mud and woodland.  I can't wait.  Last year it rained for most of the event. Nice.

If you would like to sign up and join us,  here is the link www.london2brightonchallenge.com.  Otherwise Nick and I would be extremely grateful if you would make a donation to give Nick and I the incentive we need to complete the course.

I know that there are many competing causes so anything that you can do to help will be very much appreciated.

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
