Story
Hi there,
.....last time I was typing here was for my first ever Marathon in London back in 2009 with my good friend Mark Gillespie when we raised sufficient sponsorship to buy 2 specially built sports wheelchairs for disabled children, a great achievement which assisted us both mentally in getting over that finish line!!
.....this time it's a little bit different and for a cause which is extremely close to home with family and close friends who have suffered more pain from Lymphoma Cancer than anyone would endure during any marathon race.
The challenge I have set myself this time is to complete the Comrades Ultra Marathon which takes place in Sth Africa on Sunday June 3rd 2012 with a total distance of aprox 56 Miles or 89km which include 'The Big 5' (not jungle animals but hills to run / walk / crawl over!) Each year the race changes direction from an up to a down, this year it is a down starting in Pietermaritzburg and finsihing in Durban (I know that the down run is as painful if not more so than the up!!??) eithr way a challenge which has to be overcome.
See attached link for race details and video: http://www.comrades.com/

Thankfully Sarah is fully supporting me in the extremely strict training programme and diet which I started early Jan. As part of the Comrades Marathon qualifiying requirements I shall be completing the Canberra Marathon on the 15th April 2012 which also has a 54km run option in prepration for Comrades.
In summary whether you wish to sponsor me in raising much needed funds to assist people who are currently suffering or recovering from the dreadfull Lymphoma disease or simply words of wisdom to get me over the finish line your contribution either way will be greatfully received.
Thanks
Nick
