Story
Hi Everyone
I will be one of a group of sweaty middle-aged men (and some lighter, less sweaty, less middle aged ladies) who will be cycling from Chamonix to Venice this summer. The stats are:
- Total distance is 1024 km in 8 days
- Over 20,000 metres of ascent, (that’s a lot of downs as well)
- 22 major climbs- biggest climb is 24.8 kms at a 7.5% average
- 2 days of over 170 kms
Why sponsor me?
- All of us taking part are doing it off our own backs so your donations will not be paying for our EPO, beer, massages, accommodation, arse-rot cream and other essential trip
costs. I’m really looking forward to the trip but it will be by far the hardest endurance event/adventure, that I’ve ever done - Personal links to the charity: your money will go straight to Kennedy's Disease UK (KD-UK), the only UK based charity raising funds to fight this awful disease, which affects Frank Hopps, a very good friend of the riders. Andy Symington is the main organiser of the ride and is one of the founders of the charity in the UK so there is an additional assurance that your donations will be spent wisely.
- We want to help make sure that this rare, often misdiagnosed disease is better recognised. We also want people to be aware of the effect it has on sufferers, their families and their friends. There is only one centre carrying out vital research in the UK and we hope that our efforts will help them find a cure.
