Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In May 2023 I embarked on my first challenge to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats. Through the generosity of many people over £6,000 was raised for MNDA, rising to over £7,000 with gift aid. A big thank you again to everyone.

This year I will be attempting to cycle from St Malo to Nice, hopefully weather permitting, to include Ventoux a 6,000ft mountain in the South.

I will again be supporting MNDA and hope to take the total for the two years over £7,500 and maybe reach £10,000.

In December 2019, I lost a long-time friend to Motor Neurone Disease, Peter Colvin. Pete and I started work together in 1991 and whenever we met over the years he was always full of fun and laughter, plus a good story or two. He is sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

Even with the love and support of a fabulous family, MND is a cruel condition. It can surface at any age and sadly Pete was only 58 when he passed away.

In his later years Pete was fund raising for MNDA despite the ravages of the condition, now it’s my turn.

I will be dedicating this ride to the memory of Peter and I would like your support in raising funds for the fantastic work that the MND Association does. MNDA supports those with MND by improving access to care and funding vital research into this terrible condition.

MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It can leave people locked in a failing body unable to move, talk and eventually breathe. It kills six people every day in the UK, a third within 12 months of diagnosis and more than half within two years. It has no cure but with your support one day we may find one.

Sadly we have lost the father of my nieces and nephews in NZ, having found out a few weeks ago that he was suffering from MND, he was lost to the disease in the last two weeks.

The ride through France will take 14 days, cover over 900 miles with 65,000ft of climbing. There will be an app available for those who wish to follow our progress, please message me if you are interested.

Burles Business Management, the interim turnaround professionals, have sponsored the ride, as they did last year. Through their support 100% of your donations will go to MNDA.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you for reading my page, I hope I can count on your support.
