Thank you so much for considering a donation to Alport UK in memory of Nick, who passed away on 5 July 2022.  Nick had Alport Syndrome, which is a rare inherited disease that can cause kidney failure and deafness. He had his first transplant from his father in 1976 at the age of 22. It lasted an amazing 34 years. A second transplant followed in 2016, thanks to the kindness of someone who had signed up for the organ donor register.  Nick felt himself very lucky to have had a full and happy life, despite all his medical issues.  Alport UK helps to support families like ours, and works hard to raise the profile of this syndrome and to contribute to the international research agenda.
