Story
MHA is a charity which has run residential care homes for nearly 70 years. It has an excellent reputation for the quality of its care for people with dementia. Recently it started a music therapy scheme. If you know anything about music therapy you will appreciate what amazing things can be achieved to enhance the quality of life for people who find it difficult to communicate or express themselves in ways that most of us take for granted, so I think this scheme is quite visionary - not an optional extra but which makes all the difference to the lives of many people. You can read more about it by following the link below.
The opportunity to support MHA's music therapy appeal has come to me by being granted a three month sabbatical. Cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats over three weeks in July will probably be the last opportunity to tackle a physical and mental challenge on this scale - I shall be 57 by then. The fact that my son Dominic wants to do it with me is a bonus. We plan to start on July 2nd, staying with friends and relatives who are dotted up the western half of England. Once we hit Scotland we run out of places to stay - may end up being youth hostels or B&B. We have just two ports of call in Scotland so far - Peebles and Kinross - so we'll go the Edinburgh and A9 route.
No, we're not serious cyclists, but we like a challenge and have the determination! Your support will be much appreciated and will make a huge difference to the quality of so many lives. Thank you!
