Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the London Marathon for the tuberous sclerosis association (TSA) - who work tirelessly to help patients and their families, and to raise the profile of this rare genetic condition, which can affect up to 1 in 6000 children at birth. The degree to which each person is affected can be very mild - to very severe, and in some instances complications of the disease can be life-threatening. Certain patients may benefit from surgical or radiological interventions, and many more may benefit from a novel medication that has recently become available under certain circumstances. I have the rare privilege of being able to contribute as part of the multi-specialist clinical team at St George's to help TSC patients regionally and from across the country.
The sterling work of the TSA in championing the cause of these often very young, vulnerable children and their families is both admirable - and vital - in that it provides a support network - wherever a patient comes from in the UK - and achieves far more than we could ever hope to provide as a clinical team. All this - without even mentioning the central role that the TSA plays in funding research into the condition and its treatments.
Thank you for your support of the TSA.
