Story
All of my friends and family know that I retired from marathon running in 2018…..well….I’m back…for one last 26.2 miler!!
I feel extremely honoured to be running this race wearing a Severn Hospice vest.
I have the absolute pleasure to work for this wonderful organisation; I get to see and hear every day about the incredible care our teams give to patients and their families who are living with incurable diseases and facing the hardest times of their lives.
All the care provided is free for however long a family needs it but it costs around 9 million a year to run both the wards and the hospice at home service; 6 million of this has to raised from fundraising alone. It’s going to be a tough old year this year with the ever rising costs of living and energy which the hospice simply can’t scrimp on.
If you have a spare quid to donate to this brilliant charity that I am so proud to be a part of I would really appreciate it.
My training hasn’t gone exactly to plan this time - it’s been so much harder now i’m 5 years older! There’s been injuries, falls, scraped knees and elbows, physio sessions, wardrobe malfunctions, toilet issues - you name it! It’s been a challenge but I’ve enjoyed it (kinda!). I’m ready (ish) and I’ll be at that start line on 23rd wearing my vest with pride.
Thanks for donating.
Severn Hospice provides specialist care and emotional support for families in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales living with an incurable illness. All our care is provided for free, but it is not without cost - we have to raise £2 for every £3 we spend. It's because you care that we can.
