I signed up for this half marathon in February of 2020 aiming to complete it the October of that year, but with the covid pandemic this was not possible. So now after 2 possibly 3 alternative dates I will finally run the great Birmingham run on the 1st May 2022. 

I wrote my story then and saying about how my Nan was diagnosed with vascular dementia several years ago and that it was hard but manageable. Now two year later I have seen just how awful this disease can be as everyday is hard for her and those closest to her. It affects her in all aspects of her life and my family see her struggle with it everyday. She is still at the place where she remembers her immediate family and I would like to her to stay there for as long as she can. 

I have seen the impact that Alzheimer’s has on a family long term as family of friends have also had experiences with this awful disease.  I have decided to run the Great Birmingham run to raise as much money as I can for this incredible charity, with the global pandemic being the main issue on everyone mind, Alzheimer’s UK have predicted their funding will decrease by up to 45% so I would like to help as much as I can. I would really appreciate any donation made and thank you in advance for your contribution. It would be amazing that if one day they find a cure We can say We helped even just a little.
