Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Mrs Richardson, Mrs Warner, Miss Lucken, Mrs Walker and Mrs Sealey are running the Royal Berkshire 10k & 3k to raise money for Ronald MacDonald House in Southampton.   Jacob, Will and Ben are also running the mini mile and mini marathon.

Max is a lovely boy who is part of our Newlands Primary School family.  Sadly, Max suffered a stroke during his 7th birthday party in September 2016 and was rushed to Southampton General Hospital that evening; a long 46 miles away. Southampton was not the family’s local hospital but Max needed to stay there to receive the specialist care he required. Max has had to undergo intensive therapy as he lost all the movement
down the left hand side of his body.

Ronald MacDonald House in Southampton allowed the family to stay close to Max during his very long stay in hospital.  It also allowed Max’s little sister, Sophie, to stay at weekends so that they could share precious family time together during a time of turmoil for all of them.  Max’s parents were able to have the support and friendship of other parents whose children were also in hospital.

Max has now started his return to Newlands Primary School and we are so proud of what he has achieved and how incredibly strong he, and his family, have been.  We wanted to do something positive for Max and to say thank you to Ronald MacDonald House for the amazing support they give.  So we decided to dust off our running shoes and show Max that we can run 10k!  As he has learnt to walk again we think we can just about manage this!  Training has started and Max is going to be there to support us along the way.
