Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have never taken on a serious physical challenge, but at the tender age of 55 the time has come and I hope you will agree that this is something very special.
In July I hope to walk across the Pyrenees, from France into Spain. As you probably know, many people did this trek through the night to escape from the Nazi’s, but one of them in particular was my Father-In-Law Joseph Sagal z”l. Joe walked across with his father and brother
and ultimately managed to find their way to London and the rest, as they say is history.
It’s called the Freedom Trail and for so many of our ancestors, it was just that. I will be doing this walk over five days in Joe’s memory and in memory of the many people who did the same, together with the incredibly brave local people who risked their lives to help them make the dangerous trip.
The trek will be arduous with rocky ridges, beach forests and mountain lakes, on remote trails reaching over 700m before descending into Spain.
When the going gets tough I will draw upon the inspiration of the incredible stories of Joe and many others, but also from knowing that I will be raising money for an incredible organisation that has dominated my life for the last 12 years.
Camp Simcha exists to improve the quality of life for Jewish children in the UK suffering from all forms of serious illness. Such a serious diagnosis can be devastating for every member of the family so our 24
different services are focussed on putting lives back together again for every member of the family, including siblings. If you would like to know more about our work please visit www.campsimcha.org.uk
This may be my first ever challenge but I give you my word that it will be my only one. It’s a one-time thing so please do what you can to help me raise the much needed funds for the children and families who so need us.
Thank you.
Neville
