Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We are running the Cardiff half marathon to raise money for the development of the Intensive Care Unit Garden at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen.
The garden will support patients admitted to our Intensive Care Unit in their rehabilitation and wellbeing journey to recovery. An Intensive Care Garden provides patients with a therapeutic boost, providing patients and their loved ones with a sense of normality. The garden allows time away from the clinical area, providing a peaceful space to meet their family and friends and also an opportunity to see their loving pets.
There is evidence to suggest that an outdoor visit can improve psychological status and reduce delirium. Along as supporting physical wellbeing during what can be a very stressful and difficult time in their lives.
The garden will also provide a peaceful space for staff to reflect on practice and support wellbeing.
This a project that we are very proud and passionate to support. We are looking forward to running the half marathon which will be a first for all 3 of us!
Thanks you for taking the time to read our page and appreciate all of you support in raising the funds required to develop this fantastic project for our patients and staff.
