Story
My husband, Neil, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of Lymphoma in November 2021. He found an inner strength to battle through intensive rounds of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a stem cell transplant. He made it through so many gruelling treatments, infections and set backs but in April of this year he sadly passed away.
Neil was never bitter about his illness and, even at the end, he keep that positivity as he was able to come home on the day that he died- just as he had wished. Neil’s death has left myself and our children heartbroken but we are also so proud of him and grateful that he was ours.
Exeter Leukaemia Fund work to support blood cancer patients through improving facilities, funding staffing and specialist equipment, funding research and a range of services to make life a little easier for those attending the Haematology Centre at the RD&E. Neil benefitted from the services available as a patient on Yarty and I was able to stay with Neil in the ELF funded Chevithorne family suite in the final week of his life. That is a provision I will be eternally grateful for. .
Thank you.
