Everyone has the right to live in safety – together we can get to unexploded bombs before a child does. www.maginternational.org/unlocktheland
In 2014 the idea to bring together people from the wholesale, convenience retail, FMCG and service-provider sector to raise money for MAG (Mines Advisory Group) was conceived by myself, Tom Fender and Raj Krishan.
Since 2015, over 75 sector execs have raised over £730,000 on five industry bike rides for MAG who work around the world removing and destroying landmines and unexploded bombs so that women, girls, boys and men can work, play, walk and live in safety and free from fear.
Every day, 19 people are killed or injured by landmines and unexploded bombs. Half of casualties are children. Every landmine and deadly weapon taken out of the ground is a life saved, an injury prevented and a community given the opportunity to flourish.
The rides so far, in Sri Lanka, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and across the UK, have helped MAG save lives and build safer futures for communities ravaged by the effects of war.
I am so excited that in June 2022 we get to go back overseas to ride together from from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo. This is a challenging ride, with lots of big climbs, but I know as a team we will build incredible friendships, face the hills and raise even more money for MAG.
