Story

Hi All,

In my infinite wisdom I entered the ballot for the London Marathon and somehow got in!! What was I thinking?! I've been training for a good few months now and am already onto my second pair of trainers, but all is going well and I'm now relishing the challenge it's going to throw at me.

Despite getting in on ballot I've decided to run the London Marathon on behalf of the Williams Syndrome Foundation. Williams Syndrome is a rare genetic condition that causes delayed neurological development, a range of potential physical and learning difficulties. There is no cure or treatment for Williams, but the Williams Syndrome Foundation recognises that children with the condition - and their families - can still lead happy and fulfilled lives.

I'm supporting Williams Syndrome Foundation as Williams Syndrome is something that affects a colleague and very good friend of mine. His Son Max was recently diagnosed with Williams and I know how valuable the foundations work and support has been to his family. They provide an invaluable service, sharing access to news, events, information and - most importantly - support. You can find out more about Williams Syndrome and the Foundation here: http://www.williams-syndrome.org.uk/vebo/index.php?idPage=133.

This is a rare syndrome and doesn't get the financial support it deserves so please try and dig deep to support them and help make the 26 mile run a little easier for me.

About the charity

The Williams Syndrome Foundation was formed in 1980 and is run by parents for parents of children with this rare condition which causes heart and kidney problems and learning difficulties. It desperately needs funds to finance its ambitious research and family support programmes which include national conventions and regional meetings.
