Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the evening of April 22nd, 2013 my wife went into labour with our first child, Ziggy, he was moving and interacting with us at the start of the labour but by the time we reached the hospital he had passed away. He was stillborn on the morning of the 23rd, April 2013. He would have been five years old this year. We miss him every day.
In the autumn of 2013, my wife pregnant again, I ran the Cardiff Half Marathon and was able to raise funds for SANDS. SANDS do vital work, providing support to families (including us) in grieving for their lost children, helping them through future pregnancies and lobbying government for better NHS maternity care. We are lucky enough to have our rainbow child (AKA Button) who is now nearly four.
In 2017, as we were waiting for our third child to be born, I put my running shoes on again and raised some money for SANDS throughout the year running in the Cardiff Bay 10k, Swansea Bay 10k and Cardiff Half Marathon. One race for each of our children - yes, we were lucky enough to welcome a second rainbow baby (AKA Spark).
This year as we reach more milestones with our surviving children, things have been a bit tougher again, and so I've decided to run this off by raising money for SANDS and have entered the Cardiff Half for the third time. I'd dearly like to complete the race without "tabbing" the last 5k. For fellow writers and readers, if we can get this page to £500 by the end of August I will also record and release an audio version of the original Dragonstar story. Written for Ziggy, I have only ever performed this in public twice but the tale is generally very well received. This will be an ongoing fundraising page and so as I add other activities it will be updated and the target is notional. Anything helps.
*Update* I will be running the Barry Island 10k and Swansea Bay 10k in preparation for the Half.
If you can spare some cash, I’d really appreciate it.
