Story

Thank you for visiting my Justgiving page.

I have been given the opportunity to run The London Marathon 2018 on behalf of The Brain Tumour Charity.

The London Marathon is not just a gruelling 26.2 mile run but also a challenging journey of training, sacrifice and pain. However, it is incomparable to the challenges that brain tumour patients and their families have to endure everyday. Something many of us cannot even begin to imagine.

Some close family friends lost their 9 year old son, Joe, to a brain tumour 10 years ago. They have battled to pick up the pieces with Joe's sister and their extended family. Joe and his sister went to the same school as me. Having gone through desperate times Joe's family are one of the kindest and most generous families that you could ever wish to meet. Andy, Joe's father has shared his memories with me and it is their story that has inspired me to run the marathon and raise money in the hope that it could help other families avoid the same pain.

Together we can make a difference. We don't know when or who a brain tumour may effect next. Each donation, no matter the size, is a step in the right direction towards preventing incurable cases.

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killers of children and adults under 40. More than 9,000 people a year are diagnosed, with only 15% of cancerous tumour patients surviving for more than 5 years after diagnosis - an upsetting statistic. Surprisingly, only 2% of money invested into cancer research specifically funds research into developing new brain tumour treatments and we need to do more to find a cure. The Brain Tumour Charity is dedicated to investing into pioneering research to find a cure and improve the lives of people and their families who have a brain tumour.

I am aiming to raise £2,500. With your help and support, no matter how big or small, I hope to make this possible.
