This is a big event for myself and also my family as I am not only completing the Great North Run for the first time but also in memory of my uncle who sadly passed away Boxing Day 2013.

I was very close to my uncle and is greatly missed by all who he was involved with, a very family orientated gentleman who never put himself first! He was diagnosed with a rare form of appendix cancer which then lead on to a brain hemorrhage that he recovered from and was given the all clear.  Unfortunately a year later he was informed that he now had bowl cancer and it had spread. 

He never stopped smiling or telling jokes throughout his battle and will give me strength for life...... a true legend and sadly missed.

Thank you and every penny is greatly appreciated towards my uncle's memory and also to the Macmillan Charity which does a great day to day job!
