Story
After three years battling cancer mum very sadly passed away at Princess Grace hospital on 19 November 2014.
On Friday 14 November mum had a minor operation which went wrong and she was placed in intensive care. Although that night the doctors said that short of a miracle mum would never regain consciousness, she did, early on Saturday morning, shocking Katie and Moppit senseless.
Mum then steadily improved on Saturday, Sunday and Monday but her lungs never stopped filling up with fluid. On Tuesday morning mum decided that it was time to go, she had a shower, changed into her clothes and fell asleep shortly afterwards. She passed away just after midnight with Moppit by her side.
Her last few days were so characteristic of her. She was humorous, dignified and fearless right until the last moment. And above all, she left on her own terms. She didn't cry at all, she wasn't scared and she was absolutely ready to leave us.
We are so grateful and proud to have had her as our mum and we will all miss her every day for the rest of our lives.
Mum started a blog in April 2014 which can be found at http://nathalierigg.wordpress.com/.
Please feel free to leave a note for mum on this page or on her blog, or to make a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support if you would like.
We would ask you to please not send flowers.
