On the 26th April 2015 there will be 2 runners running the marathon who have come from two different situations but with one amazing person linking the two! Here are the tales of the two runners:
Natasha:
After completing 2 half marathons last year I thought to myself what next? London Marathon seemed like the next step although now it seems like one of my craziest ideas yet!! Luckily a friend (Toby) at work was running for The Snowdon Trust who are a small charity but aim to make a big difference to students with learning difficulties. He managed to get me a place through his contact there & before I knew it I was in!!
Unfortunately Toby will no longer be standing next to me on the start line on April 26th as he sadly passed away before Christmas so all of a sudden this challenge I am faced with seems even more poignant as not only do I want to raise as much money as possible for the charity he chose to support I also want to do him proud on the day. His words to me on securing me the place were....
"You will be signing your life away for constant early morning and late evening runs, the best diet ever, where you can eat and eat an eat as many carbs as you have ever had in your life and still loose weight, you will be sick of the pain and the blisters and the tiredness.....................
...
......................but when you hear half a million people cheering your name along the route, you'll forget about it all very quickly!
"
I hope he is bloody right as so far the training is tough!! What will really help me slug through those 26.2 miles is knowing how much all of you believed in me by making a donation on this page xx
Emma:
With a couple of marathon’s under my belt I was content with what was achieved and ready to pursue my other hobby of red wine. Fast forward to December 2014 and sadly a very dear friend’s husband (Toby) passed away. Toby was a super keen runner and had a place in the 2015 London Marathon. His wife asked if I would take his place, a huge honour which I whole heartily grabbed with both hands!! Whenever Toby and I spoke we always chatted about running including up coming races, who was fastest out of the two of us and top tips. Toby was so amazing at raising so much money for the charities he ran for, I am running the marathon for this worthy charity he had chosen and every step I run I will be thinking of him (I know he will be up there telling me to run faster!!). There will be no PB’s in this final marathon I am doing (this old horse is one step away from the glue factory) but I will give it my all for Toby, his family, his wife, his friends and the Snowdon Trust.
Snowdon Trust’s strap line is everyone must have the opportunity to achieve their true potential which we’re sure in life we all deserve that chance. Please donate to help the Snowdon Trust make this mission possible
Thank you from Natasha & Emma x
