We are fighting to make a world where diabetes does no harm

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Two years ago my younger brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The stresses and straines of university triggered it, resulting in him loosing a lot of weight, mood swings and lack of energy. This inevitably made is University work suffer and what should have been one of the best years of his life, turned into a nightmare.

It was not until my mum recognised the signs, that she told him to get checked for diabetes. My brother is now 22 and should be happy getting drunk with his friends and living life to the full, but instead has to inject himself, several times a day, with life saving insulin and watch everything he eats. He will have this for the rest of his life and instead of moaning about it, just gets on with it.

Technology and science is always advancing and the possibilty of swapping insulin injections for a simple tablet (like for type 2) may only be 10 years away, but funding is needed to make these advancements possible.
